At Infinity Concepts, we have been privileged to work with many great ministries and non-profit organizations. We have learned a lot about what it takes to establish and grow a successful organization. We have also helped a number of organizations that were at risk and needed to find fresh solutions to put them back on course and take them to the next level.
How healthy is your organization?
I want to encourage you to take a moment to do a quick CHECK-UP to see how your organization is doing. Print out this blog – or on a separate sheet of paper, list numbers 1 through 20. With each CHARACTERISTIC, score 1 for YES, 2 for SOMETIMES, and 3 for NO. Then add up your total score…
Lack of decisive, knowledgeable leadership
Loss of organizational focus
Frequent administrative or executive turnover
Weak or inaccurate public image
Diminished support from its founding/nurturing public
High operation costs compared to similar organizations
Over-dependency on a single revenue stream
Small or decreasing endowment/reserve
Increasing organizational debt
Low employee retention rates
Staff militancy or apathy
Increased use of part-time staff
Difficulties in staff recruiting
Difficulties in fund raising
Difficulties in acquiring new donors
Decreasing number of active donors
History of small, unsuccessful capital campaigns
Increased competition for donated funds
If your score is:
50-60: Congratulations… it sounds like your organization is strong and moving forward.
40-50: It appears that while your organization is essentially healthy, there are some important issues to be addressed to secure, strengthen, and grow your organization.
30-40: It appears that there are some key issues that need to be addressed to correct the course of your organization.
20-30: It appears that your organization may be at significant risk and strong measures need to be taken to restore and refocus your organization right away.
